The East Anglian Air Ambulance landed in Ipswich’s Gippesywk Park this afternoon and a young man in his late teens has been taken to hospital.

Emergency services were called shortly after 3.25pm to a property in the area and the air ambulance was also mobilised.

Doctors from the helicopter treated the teenager and then accompanied him to Ipswich Hospital in a road ambulance.

The helicopter then took off and left the scene.

A spokesman from Suffolk police said they had been called to reports of a medical issue and when they arrived found the teenager unconscious.

Witnesses in the park said the crew had been “impressive” and praised the pilots who took a few minutes to show the helicopter to children – once the casualty had been safely treated and taken to hospital in a separate ambulance.

Will Shepherd was visiting with his family from Stratford-upon-Avon.

“I noticed an ambulance and then a couple of minutes later a helicopter turned up, then another ambulance arrived,” he said.
