There’s an old saying in showbiz, never work with children or animals; but Ipswich Operatic and Dramatic Society are doing both in just a few months time – and it could make your dog a star.

They are bringing family classic Oliver to the Regent Theatre in April. Based on Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist, it’s packed with famous songs. Now, with its adult and child casts in place, IODS are looking for one final cast member to complete the line-up - Bill Sykes’ faithful hound Bullseye.

Open auditions are being held on Saturday, February 25. Traditionally played by an English bull terrier dog, IODS are keen to see any dog who might be up for the challenge.

Director James Hayward said: “Our perfect dog will be one who won’t be fazed by being on stage with the other actors. Their owners won’t need to go on stage, so the dog will need to be happy performing alongside our Bill, and they will have a chance to meet him at the auditions.”

They will be taking place at Basepoint Business Centre, Ransomes Europark, at 11am. For more information see www.iods.co.uk or e-mail iods@live.co.uk
