Trimley father-of-five Dean Stansby was on the ground trying to get to his feet when a man “lunged” at him with a knife and stabbed him three or four times, a court has heard.
Kaylem Taylor told Ipswich Crown Court that he was driving along Ancaster Road on February 8 last year when he witnessed the incident and described being shocked when he saw the alleged attacker pull out a knife.
“I saw the blade. It was so shiny it stood out,” said Mr Taylor.
He said the knife had a five or six inch blade and was curved at the end.
Mr Taylor’s attention was initially drawn by a man running in front of his car and being chased by another man who “took a swing at him”.
There had then been “arms going everywhere” before the first man tried to get away down the hill.
He was followed by the second man who caught up with him and grabbed his arm and threw another punch.
“There was a bit of shoving going on and man one ended up on the floor after losing his footing,” said Mr Taylor.
“He tried to get up but man two pulled out a knife and lunged at him three or four times in the chest and belly area.”
He said the second man ran off and the man on the ground got to his feet and jogged across the road.
Mr Taylor wound down his window to ask if he was alright and the man had put his thumb up.
Before Ipswich Crown Court are Jason Ruby, 45, of Risby Close, Ipswich; Tecwyn Parker, 48, of Downside Close, Ipswich; Daniel Kaganda, 24, of London and Amiadul Islam, 25, of London.
All four deny murdering 41-year-old Mr Stansby on February 8 last year.
Ruby has also denied conspiracy to supply heroin and crack cocaine.
The court has heard that Mr Stansby came into Ipswich on the evening of his death to buy drugs from the “AJ and Sky” ring.
Jacob Hallam QC, prosecuting, said Parker, Ruby and Kaganda had apparently gone to confront Mr Stansby in retaliation for an earlier incident in which he had allegedly tried to rob Parker of some drugs.
He claimed that Islam was in telephone contact with his three co-defendants during the confrontation in Ancaster Road.
The trial continues.
