An Ipswich drug dealer who is serving a six years jail sentence has been ordered to pay a £1,445 confiscation order.
Oshanie Ashton-Coburn, 25, of Back Hamlet, Ipswich, admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply, possessing cannabis, possession of a knife and being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin when he appeared before Ipswich Crown Court at an earlier hearing.
Jailing him for a total of 76 months Judge Martyn Levett described him as a “recidivist” drug dealer who had a “significant” role in drug dealing.
He said he “100%” rejected the defendant’s claim he was going to hand the drugs back to someone and that he stood to make “substantial gains”.
Yesterday (Monday) a hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act heard that Ashton-Coburn’s benefit from his offending was £19,777.
However, the available amount was only £1,445 and Judge Levett made a confiscation order in that sum with a one month prison sentence in default.
