A football team from Lyndon House Salvation Army Lifehouse in Ipswich have reached the semi-finals of a special football tournament for people who have experienced homelessness.

Staff and residents from Lyndon House, in Fore Street, travelled to Manchester for the annual football tournament to compete against around 30 teams from across the UK.

The tournament was set up to give people who have experienced homelessness a boost in confidence by taking part in a competitive sporting event.

Former Celtic and Wales football player John Hartson was the special guest at this year’s tournament.

He said: “Today has been a great day for seeing how football is making a difference in the lives of people who are facing some of their toughest challenges, and it’s been great to cheer them on from the sidelines as well as having time to share my own experiences of facing and coming through difficult times.”
