Firefighters cut free a man who was in a car involved in a crash on the A14 overnight.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were called to the road, Bury St Edmunds-bound, at about 12.20am.

The grey Vauxhall Corsa has crashed into the crash barrier leaving the man, believed to be his 20s, trapped within.

By 1.20am he was lifted out of the vehicle after its roof had been removed with the fire service’s cutting equipment.

A police spokesman said the man had neck and back pain but believed the injuries were not “life-threatening” or “life-changing”.

The road was re-opened just after 1.45am.

In a separate incident crews attended a car fire in Court Barns Road, Stetchworth, near the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border at about 10.15pm last night.

Hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire by 10.45pm.
