The Barry Shooter Pharmacy business in Aldeburgh has been acquired for an undisclosed sum by Suffolk businessman Stuart Beer, who already owns a pharmacy in Wickham Market.

The deal, brokered by specialist medical property adviser Christie & Co, caps a busy period for Mr Beer, who has also got married and moved house in the past year.

Mark Page from the Ipswich office of Christie & Co handled the sale on behalf of Barry Shooter, who he met at the Pharmacy Mr Page said: “We’re delighted to have found a buyer for this excellent pharmacy business in the beautiful town of Aldeburgh.

“We conducted a confidential sales campaign which saw competitive interest and multiple offers. This demonstrates both the attractiveness of successful businesses in this part of the country, and also how popular good pharmacy businesses are with existing operators looking to grow and new, first time investors.

“We congratulate Stuart on the acquisition of his second pharmacy and wish him well with the business in the future.”

Funding for the acquisition was sourced by Christie & Co’s sister company, Christie Finance.

Nick Baker, director and head of business mortgages at Christie Finance, said: “Once again, we’re happy to demonstrate that funding is increasingly available for both experienced operators like Stuart Beer and first-time buyers alike.

“It’s especially evident that banks are prepared to back both strong businesses and good, successful business people. We wish Stuart well with his latest acquisition.”
