A Suffolk woman made a false complaint to police that she had been assaulted by a neighbour, it has been alleged.

Georgina Healy told police Paul Brown had forcefully opened a communal door at Jubilee Court in Bury St Edmunds, causing it to hit her, resulting in pain to the side of her face and body, Ipswich Crown Court heard.

However, when police arrested Mr Brown he denied any knowledge of the alleged incident and records at the care home where he worked showed he was at work when the assault was said to have happened, said Oliver Haswell, prosecuting.

Healy, 20, of Thompson Walk, Bury St Edmunds, has denied doing acts intending to pervert the course of justice by making a false complaint to police against Mr Brown in July 2015.

The court heard police found Mr Brown had signed in for work at St Peter’s House 15 minutes before the alleged assault took place.

The trial continues.
