Police and fire service staff were today preparing for a busy night as fears grew that tomorrow morning’s expected storm could bring havoc to the region.
Senior police officers were on standby overnight in case heavy rain and storm force winds bring havoc to the region.
And fire crews were preparing for the possibility of a busy night and tomorrow morning because of fears of major disruption on the roads.
Weather forecasters have warned that several hours of heavy rain followed by storm-force winds could bring down trees which could block roads and could need to be cleared by emergency services.
Forecasters do not think that this region will suffer as much rain as other parts of the country, but it is still possible there could be isolated flooding which will need to be cleared by fire appliances.
