Former Newcastle United full-back Robbie Elliott and friend and triathlete Phil Gray are cycling 3,500 miles in four weeks from Lisbon to Newcastle.

The duo are visiting eight clubs across four countries where Sir Bobby coached, raising money for the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

After taking in Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven, Wembley and Fulham, the pair enjoyed a tour of Ipswich Town’s Portman Road stadium yesterday afternoon.

McCarthy was joined by Blues legends Mick Mills and Bryan Hamilton in congratulating the cyclists.

The pair will complete their journey at Newcastle United on Sunday, when the Magpies play West Ham at St James’ Park.
