The bomb squad were called this morning after a First World War artillery fuse was found in a Suffolk village.
Police were called at 10.15am this morning to a house near Middleton Road/Yoxford Road in Yoxford, near Saxmundham.
The alarm was raised after a resident found a suspected item of munitions.
A bomb disposal team from Colchester was called to the incident just after 11am today and identified the item as a First World War-vintage artillery fuse, which contained no explosives and was recovered for safe disposal.
An Army spokesman said: “We would encourage the public to raise the alarm if they do have concerns about any suspect items they find and not to touch them. It is better to be safe than sorry.”
