Braintree: Woman reports being raped in alleyway near The Lounge

A woman is being supported by specialist police officers after she reported being raped in the early hours of this morning.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Police are investigating an allegation of serious sexual assault following an incident in an alleyway in Braintree in the early hours of this morning.

“A woman in her forties was assaulted by a man in the alleyway next to The Lounge in Market Place.

“The incident was reported to police at 2.55am this morning, but is believed to have happened about an hour before.

“The victim is being supported by specially trained officers and enquiries are continuing.”
