The body of a man recovered from the side of the River Gipping in Bramford last night has been formally identified as that of Keith Mallett from Ipswich.

Police were contacted by the ambulance service around 9.10pm yesterday, who reported a male was lying by the river unconscious and not breathing, not far from Paper Mill Lane. The man was found a short time later and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man was identified this morning as Mr Mallett, 62, who was reported as missing on Tuesday, May 27, after leaving an address in north west Ipswich at around 1.30pm.

His death is currently being treated as unexplained, but there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances.
