A teenager in London has been arrested after an 84-year-old woman in Suffolk was targeted in a fake police officer scam.

The woman, of Brandon, was told by a man claiming to be a police officer that she was a victim of fraud and needed to withdraw money from her bank account.

The bogus officer told her that a taxi would collect the money and take it to London.

The incident was reported to police and a 17-year-old boy from London was arrested yesterday on suspicion of fraud by false representation.

He is being held in custody for questioning at the Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.
