Kentford House Fire

Kentford House Fire

Archant

ONE person has died and a man remains in hospital after a fire at a house in Kentford.

Firefighters were called to the property, in Bury Road, at about 9.20am on Friday and about 55 firefighters have been dealing with the incident throughout the day.

A man in his 60s was taken to West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds suffering from smoke inhalation and police have confirmed one person has died.

A police spokeswoman said: “This afternoon, a body has sadly been found within the house.

“A cordon remains in place around the property whilst fire investigators, with the assistance of officers from Suffolk police, try to establish the cause of the fire.”

The fire has now been extinguished and firefighters have been in the process of damping down the area.

Police and firefighters are currently still at the scene.

Incident commander Ali Moseley said: “We were faced with a very significant fire which has totally involved a large area of what is a single storey domestic premises and it was spreading through the roof as well and what we have managed to do is prevent that spread.

“We have saved a lot of the building’s structure at this point, but the end part of the building was completely lost.

“It was completely involved in fire by the time we arrived with flames issuing from doors and windows.”

None of the neighbouring properties had to be evacuated.

Anybody who saw the incident or has any information is asked to call Suffolk police on 101.

Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the 1987 film Dirty Dancing

It would take a phenomenal effort to produce a bad Dirty Dancing show. The 1987 coming-of-age drama is ripe for any interpretation: iconic music, a timeless script, a clear story with emotional depth, relatable characters and well-defined goals, and of course, some pretty captivating dancing.
