FIREFIGHTERS were scrambled to St John’s Street in Bury St Edmunds on Wednesday afternoon after people reported a smell of burning in the area.

One crew from Bury Fire Station was mobilised to the scene at about 1.05pm and found a rubbish fire on a roundabout in St John’s Street.

The blaze was extinguished at 1.25pm and firefighters were back at their home station just before 1.30pm.

The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
