THE FIRE service has issued safety advice following a blaze involving an electric heater.
Two fire appliances from Bury St Edmunds fire station were mobilised to reports of a house fire in Out Risbygate in Bury St Edmunds at about 8.30am.
Crews arrived to find a small fire had occurred involving an electric heater, but it was out on arrival.
They inspected the electric heater to ensure the fire was out.
The fire service has issued the following safety advice:
•Switch off and unplug all electrical equipment when not in use
•Some appliances are designed to be left plugged in or even switched on when not in use. While this may be a requirement of the appliance’s function, it does increase the risk of an electrical fire. If in doubt, ask the manufacturer of the appliance or the shop from which you bought it
•Electricity can be complex. Consult a qualified electrician unless you know exactly what you are doing
