Motor retailer Evans Halshaw, part of the Pendragon group, hosted a Chinese New Year-themed event to mark the launch of its new Car Store in Ipswich.

The day of activities included traditional Chinese lion dancing performances and workshops, plus a Kung Fu workshop, Chinese calligraphy demonstrations, together with fortune cookies, refreshments and a prize draw as well as an opportunity to look around the new facilities.

Car Store is the used car brand of Evans Halshaw, which also has around 120 franchised dealerships around the UK.

The purpose-built site in Ipswich, at No 3 Crane Boulevard on the Futura Park estate, is the 14th Car Store to open, with a network of 40 planned over the coming years.

Up to 300 vehicles will be stocked at the Ipswich site with “virtual store” terminals also giving access to more than 20,000 vehicles online. An aftersales service will also be available, with the site including a full workshop accredited for MoTs.

The opening has created 36 new jobs, with the Ipswich team being led by head of business Serena Richardson.
