April 16 2014 Latest news:
The Star has launched a major campaign to raise £10,000 to buy vital wireless communications equipment to help the crews and medics on board the East Anglian Air Ambulance’s aircraft get the green light for lift off for night flying missions.
Each year hundreds of lives are saved by the fast work of the specialist teams. They carry qualified doctors and paramedics to the scene of serious accidents and transport critically injured patients to hospital for treatment faster than is possible by land ambulance.
The charity aims to introduce the new 24-hour service later this year, making it the first air ambulance in the country to fly after sunset.
But to reach their goal it is crucial the money is raised and the new equipment installed.
We are urging you to back the Ipswich Star’s Lifesaver Appeal and ensure the charity can save more lives in the future.
It is simple, from an individual donation to an organised sponsored event, every little bit helps.
