Two crews from Clacton Fire Station were sent to the scene in Elm Grove tonight after receiving the call at 8.40pm.

Firefighters wearing breathing equipment used a hose reel to tackle the blaze, which had started on the first floor.

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “Crews arriving at the scene reported that the first floor of the property was heavily smoke logged.”

The spokesman said that everyone inside the property had been accounted for within minutes.
