A puppy trapped in a hanging basket has been rescued by firefighters.

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier’s predicament at 3.50pm at a property in Knox Road, Clacton.

Sub officer Scott Hepburn, from Clacton fire station, said: “The puppy had been playing in the garden and had put its head into an empty hanging basket which was in the back garden on the ground.

“A set of bolt croppers were used to cut through the metal hanging basket and the puppy was then freed unharmed, and no worse off for its ordeal.”

The puppy was freed by just after 4pm and reunited with its owner.
