Essex Police have had “a good response” to an appeal for witnesses who could help them solve the murder of James Attfield.
The force released efits and CCTV images of people they wanted to speak to so they could be eliminated from enquiries.
And following a promising start to the search police have again urged anyone who recognises the efits or CCTV pictures to get in touch.
Detectives will appear on Channel 5’s Law & Disorder: Catching Criminals Live programme at 10pm tonight as part of the appeal.
James Attfield was found seriously injured with over 100 stab wounds in Castle Park off Guildford Road at 5.45am on March 29. He died a short time later at the scene.
Senior investigating officer DCI Simon Werrett said: “We are grateful for this opportunity to make another push for people to come forward with information.
“James’ family is distraught and completely devastated and want to know what happened to him.
“They want to know what type of individual would inflict such pain on their loved one.
“We want to answer these questions, but need help from others.”
Searches of the murder scene as well as a 1.5 mile area of Castle Park have lasted for nearly two weeks but the cordon which has been in place will be lifted this afternoon.
Detectives would like to thank members of the public for their patience while this essential work has been carried out.
Anyone with information in connection with this murder is urged to contact detectives in the incident room on 101, email SCDappeals@essex.pnn.police.uk or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
