Colchester: Cars and televsion among items taken in burglary

Thieves made off with two cars, a television and jewellery after a burglary in Colchester.

The incident happened in Lexden Road between 7pm last night and 5am this morning.

The culprits forced entry at the rear of the property to get in before stealing a large screen television and jewellery.

Two cars – a white Range Rover, index H1JUS, and black Volkswagen Transporter panel van, index AK59 VNX, with ‘George Tyres Maldon’ written on the side - were also stolen.

Anyone with any information should call DC Mark Peacock at Colchester Police Station on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Gambling addict damaged machine

A gambling addict flew into a rage and damaged a £1,000 fruit machine after losing money at an Ipswich amusement arcade, a court has heard.

Friends and family gathered in Holbrook to give Sam Hall a heroes welcome. Sam has just cycled the length of France in order to raise money for charity in memory of his late brother, Archie Hall.

Sam Hall was given a hero’s welcome by friends and family last night as he arrived at his Holbrook home after completing a 900-mile cycle ride in memory of his brother.
