Police say they have interviewed a woman who was captured on CCTV around the time two mobile telephones were stolen in Colchester, and are satisfied she was an innocent bystander.

The thefts took place during the afternoon of Monday, December 30 in shops on Lion Walk in the town centre.

Officers said today they are now satisfied that the woman had no involvement in the incidents.

A spokesman said: “She played no part in either theft and police are happy to clarify the situation.”
