Severe traffic delays on the A14 have been caused by a four-vehicle crash.

The road is partially blocked on the eastbound carriageway in Wherstead, just past junction 55 for the Copdock Interchange.

The incident happened around 7.50am involving a lorry, a van and two cars.

A spokesman from Suffolk police confirmed that there had been no serious injuries.

Lane one of the eastbound carriageway is closed while the vehicles are recovered, with motorists advised to expect delays to their journey.

A tyre blowout on a vehicle on the westbound carriageway of the A14 near Claydon is also causing delays in the area.

The travel delays have been exacerbated by temporary traffic lights in Main Road, Kesgrave, near the roundabout, as motorists attempt to come off the A14 and travel through the town centre.

Travel delays are affecting motorists across the county, particularly along the A14 as far as west Suffolk and on routes to Ipswich.

  • Good news no one seriously hurt. Bad news none of local MPs back a northern bypass, even worst news 'Dock Crossing' that opens to allow boats through. Messers Gummer, Poulter and Coffey start representing Ipswich and Suffolk, obatin the funding as Norwich have somehow managed to, we are once again left behind. The oldest recorded Anglo Saxon town needs a Northern bypass not a Dock Crossing. I can get to Bury to shop from the west side of Ipswich, quicker than I can get to Warren Heath. Try coming out and taking a look at the raceway that is now Otley to Henley Fiveways or Cross Keys and down to Barham.

  • I think it should be 'off the A14' not 'of the A14'. Try using the spell checker!

  • Another nightmare this morning! Late for work again! Glad to hear the driver was unhurt, and no one was at fault, which is quite surprising for the extent of the damage!
