Delays on the A14 heading westbound near the Orwell Bridge have been caused by a two-car crash.

The incident happened on the carriageway between the garage and the bridge and involved a green Vauxhall and a white Audi.

A Suffolk police spokeswoman said that no-one was believed to be injured.

Lane one is currently closed while emergency services are at the scene, with delays in the area while recovery gets underway.

  • I'd like to know how often accidents occur in that 50 metre stretch - must be once weekly at least... and then what proportion of those are caused by the short slip road from the garage.

  • And they think activating the cameras is going to make a difference. I would put money on it having happened when traffic was moving at less that 50mph.

  • Another suprise.. I wonder if the highways agency and scc read this. Another example that it's the slip road that causes the accidents. The average speed cameras are merely revenue generators. Perhaps the council could put some traffic lights up there too; given the chance I'm sure they would.
