Southwold-based Adnams has teamed up with online walking guide iFootpath to create a series of walks exploring some of the region’s finest countryside − with an opportunity for refreshment stops at some of the company’s pubs.

The guides include all the features of traditional guide books with turn-by-turn directions, photography and information about local history and the environment, accompanied by the benefit of modern technology as they are available through the iFootpath app.

Walkers are encouraged to contribute to the walks, sharing their comments and photos, helping to ensure that the walks are up-to-date.

iFootpath is the creation of husband and wife team Richard and Claire Jemmett, both keen walkers, who are eager to share the joys of walking and to inspire more people to enjoy the British countryside.

Emma Hibbert, head of corporate affairs at Adnams, said: “Many Adnams pubs are situated in the perfect position to take advantage of East Anglia’s beautiful natural scenery. With a mix of coast, heaths and woodland walks, the terrain in this part of the UK is gentle enough for most walkers to enjoy and packed full of interesting sights as well as an abundance of wildlife. There’s nothing better than to sit down in a warm, welcoming pub after a good walk to enjoy a well-earned pint or a hearty lunch.”

Claire Jemmett added: “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with Adnams to create pub walking guides in East Anglia. Walking is one of the best ways to work up an appetite – with lots of fresh air and chance to raise your heart rate – and what better way of satisfying your hunger and thirst than a great Adnams pub.”

Adnams pubs covered by walks in Suffolk include the Butt & Otster at Pin Mill the Ship Inn at Levington and the Maybush Inn at Waldringfield. Further details about the iFootpath app, visit www.ifootpath.com
