STAFF and pupils at a high school are counting the cost after burglars stole eight iMac computers.

The Apple computers - which retail at between £1,000 and £1,7000 - were stolen from the music department at East Bergholt High School between 9.30pm on Thursday and 7.30am the following morning.

Mr Colin Turner, headteacher said. “Both staff and students are devastated by this incident. The stolen equipment was part of a major refurbishment of the Music department at the school to enhance facilities for our students.

“However we are fortunate that no student work has been lost.”

Anyone with information about this break on or the iMac computers can call Pc Glen Boreham from Sudbury on 101 or contact Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111, quoting crime reference HD.12.1784.

  • It's the responsibility of the local authorities to secure this kind of equipment, software and ancillaries. If nothing else for the future existence of the industry they wish to educate young persons to join someday. This industry cannot afford every gangster rapper in East Anglia having their very own fully featured? home studio. So that's another eight bedroom studios businesses the education authorities have provided free of charge this week, don't they know that in order to keep expensive equipment specialised in this popular digital technology grouping, they have to guard it like I do mine 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Before I decided I would have to do this, my recording studio business was burgled Nine times. What is the real value of the expensive software they just lost to the street, I know they probably have a safety copy and a copy of the serial numbers so they only have to replace the host computers. Why don't music tech teachers have to sleep by their machines just to keep them and thus to remain employed, the industry professionals have no other option these days especially in the Wild West of Ipswich.
