BOMB disposal experts and police were called to the beach at Southend this morning after a man discovered 32 Second World War shells.
The man was digging for bait when the discovery was made at about 6am today in the Ray Gut.
Thames Coastguard tasked Southend Coastguard and Southend Police and the Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit from Colchester also attended the scene.
The shells were then detonated safely.
