An arrest has been made in connection with a telephone scam which has affected over 300 people.
Umar Khan, of St Pancras Way, Camden, has been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and will appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court today.
Hundreds of elderly and vulnerable people in Essex received calls from someone claiming to be either a member of the police or bank officials.
The caller then tricked them into giving up their bank details.
