Police investigating the murder of James Attfield yesterday arrested two men in connection with their enquiries into his death.

Essex Police said the two men, both aged 33, have also been arrested on suspicion of involvement with an offence of grievous bodily harm which took place on a footpath near Leisure World in Colchester at around 2am on Saturday.

They have both been taken to Colchester Police Station where they will be questioned in connection with both offences.

Mr Attfield, a vulnerable father-of-five, was found seriously injured with 102 stab wounds in Castle Park off Guildford Road shortly before 6am on March 29.

He died a short time later at the scene.

The 33-year-old, of East Bay, Colchester, was last seen in the River Lodge Public House in Middleborough on March 28. He left there shortly after 10pm, and was not seen until a passer-by discovered his body the following morning.
