IPSWICH: TV talent show The X Factor is geared towards giving people their 15 minutes of fame – and today two youngsters from Ipswich will get their turn in the limelight.
Diego and Adriann Torres, of Tayberry Place in Ravenswood, recorded their own version of That’s Not My Name by The Ting Tings for the sponsorship message on the reality show’s advertising breaks.
The pair, aged 14 and 12 respectively, went through the online video-making process, choosing a pair of tigers as their ‘prop’ and recording one minute of footage, of which ten seconds will be shown tonight.
Diego, who attends Ipswich Academy along with his brother, said: “We just saw it on TV and thought we should do a video too. We were just having fun and messing about.
“When we heard it had been picked, we were really surprised. I was doing coursework at school when my mum called me to tell me.
“At first I thought it was cool but then I realised everyone at school would be watching it so I thought it might be a bit embarrassing.”
Some of GCSE student Diego’s friends have seen the video after he posted a link on his Facebook page, but it will be the first showing for many of Adriann’s friends and teachers.
The 12-year-old said: “We just had a bit of fun doing it. I don’t know what everyone’s going to think when they see it. My mum and dad were really excited.”
