ADVICE will be on offer this week for people eligible for help from the warm homes, healthy people scheme.

The countywide initiative aims to support people who need additional help to either stay warm or afford their home energy bills during the winter.

Representatives of Suffolk Coastal District Council will be discussing the scheme with homeowners at the Health and Wellbeing event in Felixstowe on Tuesday (January 8).

T-J Haworth, cabinet member for housing, said: “Tuesday’s event gives people the chance to come along and find out if they or someone they know are eligible for some of the free help on offer such as emergency boiler repairs, or insulation and other energy-efficiency measures including draught proofing, or even assistance with paying fuel bills or the loan of a heater.”

A host of other organisations will also be at the county council organised event, which will take place at the Orwell Hotel, from 10am-3pm.

Warm homes, healthy people works with those who are over 60, households with a person with disabilities, families on low incomes and families with young children and young people with learning difficulties.

At the event in Felixstowe, there will also be advice and support on issues including interest-free loans for oil heating top-ups, electric blanket checks and money management advice.

If you are unable to attend the event, you can contact the winter wellbeing helpline on 08456 037686.
