A MAN who sustained head injuries when he fell off a balcony was trying to jump from the roof of a fish and chip shop, it has emerged.

Paramedics were called to Sea Road, Felixstowe, at about 3.45pm on Friday after it was reported the man, who is in his 30s, had fallen between 14ft and 20ft.

People who were at the scene said the man had jumped from the balcony of the snooker club to the roof of Regal Fish and chip shop.

But when he tried to jump back on to the balcony, he fell into the street.

Don Johnson, an employee at the Regal, said: “We heard a thump upstairs but didn’t think anything of it.

“He landed on his heel and his head hit the wall.

“We ran outside and he was partially sitting up and he was cold.

“I took a jacket out to cover him up because he was cold – the back of his head was split open.”

Mr Johnson added that the man was talking straight after the fall and paramedics arrived soon after.

The extent of the man’s injuries remain unclear but a police spokeswoman confirmed no criminal investigation is taking place.
