A MUM who went to collect her son from work while almost three times the drink drive limit has been banned from the roads for two years.

Sandra Bultitude, of Westleton Way, Felixstowe, was handed the driving ban during her appearance at South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, having admitted one count of drink-driving during an earlier hearing.

Magistrates banned Bultitude from “holding or obtaining” a driving licence for 24 months. She was advised this would be lowered by six months on completion of a course.

She was also ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

In addition, Bultitude must pay £60 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.

The court previously heard Bultitude had been seen “driving erratically” by police as she drove her Vauxhall Zafira along the old A45 at Levington on December 9.

The 47-year-old, who represented herself during her court appearances, told District Judge Celia Dawson she “stupidly” got behind the wheel while drunk after her 17-year-old son missed his bus home after work.

Bultitude said she had been drinking with friends who were staying for the weekend prior to the incident.

“My son phoned me to say he had missed his bus,” she said. “He had been working and I stupidly got in the car and went to get him. It was stupid.”
