A CLERGYMAN is saying farewell during the Christmas season to people of the team ministry where he has served for five years.

The Rev Napo John, rector in the Orwell Team Ministry in north and west Felixstowe – covering St Mary’s, Walton, and Christ Church on Cavendish Park, and the Trimley villages – is leaving the resort after being appointed as rector of St Mary the Virgin, Hayes, in the Diocese of Rochester.

He will be installed at a service on January 31 at St Mary’s Church, and a party of parishioners from Felixstowe will be travelling by coach to support him at the ceremony.

One of Mr John’s last official duties in the town was to conduct the civic carol service.

Mayor Mike Deacon, accompanied by his wife Anne, the mayoress, led a delegation of councillors at the event at the parish church of his council ward, St Mary’s, Walton High Street, Felixstowe.

The event was also attended by representatives of local organisations, businesses and other bodies.
