SHOP workers in Felixstowe caught selling booze to underage people were slapped with £80 fines during an undercover operation.
Three premises in the resort sold alcohol to two volunteers aged 16 and 17 during the operation organised by Trading Standards, Suffolk police and licensing officers.
Seven off license and on license premises were targeted during the activity which took place on Thursday.
The members of staff who sold alcohol to the youngsters at the three premises were handed a fixed penalty notice.
A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said: “Trading Standards will follow up on the premises that failed and tell them what they should and shouldn’t be doing.
“The team will be carrying out further checks in the future.
“There have been checks done in Felixstowe before to make sure people follow the law.”
The details of the premises that failed the checks have not been released however it is understood that two were off licenses and the other was an on license premises.
Trading Standards officials will soon visit the owners of the premises that failed the operation to offer them guidance.
During the operation, officers also confiscated booze from four people who were caught drinking on the street.
The spokeswoman added: “There were street seizures so they were also trying to tackle anti social behaviour and problems around that area as well.”
