You’ve done it!
The Ipswich Star Guide Dog appeal fund has reached its £5,000 target – with fundraising and donations having paid for a SIXTH puppy for the charity for blind and visually-impaired people.
Now we want Ipswich Star readers to help come up with a name for the new puppy.
It is hoped the pup will be one of a litter given birth to by Star, the paper’s first guide dog puppy who is serving the charity as a brood bitch and has already been mum to many guide dogs.
The fundraising target was reached at the weekend at a craft fair held in aid of the appeal at Felixstowe Leisure Centre and which raised a staggering £1,811.
Puppy walker Penny Parker, of the charity’s East and Mid Suffolk fundraising group, said: “It was a very successful event and a really lovely day.
“We had been bracing ourselves for a drop on last year as many people still have less in their pockets, so to be £400 up was a bonus.”
The new puppy will follow Star, Faith, Sterling, Robson and Diamond. Star is in season and could breed again soon.
