Felixstowe: Man to appear in court charged with assault, vehicle taking and racially-aggravated disorder

A Felixstowe man will appear in court today charged with two assaults, taking a vehicle without consent and racially-aggravated disorderly behaviour.

Jamie Arnold, 30, of Beach Station Road, was arrested yesterday in connection with the incidents, which happened on Tuesday evening, and was then charged.

The first alleged incident happed at about 6.30pm in Russell Road where a 40-year-old man was driving home and was involved in a collision with a pedestrian.

When the 40-year-old got out to check the pedestrian was OK, it is alleged he became aggressive before getting into the 40-year-old’s vehicle and driving off – the vehicle was recovered later.

The second happened at about 8pm at a premises in Ranelagh Road where a man in his 40s was verbally abused.

The third incident happened at about 8.30pm in Walton Avenue, where a 55-year-old man suffered bruising to the face after being assaulted.

Jamie Arnold has been charged with assault by beating and taking a motor vehicle without consent in connection with the first incident, racially aggravated disorderly behaviour in connection with the second and assault by beating in connection with the third.

Another man, Barry Lawrence, 24, of Marigold Avenue in Ipswich, has also been charged with assault by beating in connection with the third incident.

Police are releasing CCTV images of potential witnesses as work continues to trace missing Corrie McKeague.
