Police closed a road in Felixstowe yesterday following a collision between a car and a van.

The crash, involving a blue Volkswagen Passat and a green Mercedes panel van, happened between the Beach Station Road and Orford Road junctions of Langer Road shortly after 3pm.

A driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the road was closed for about half an hour.

A senior detective has warned residents to be vigilant after burglaries in Suffolk increased by 40% in December.

Dozens of public houses have closed in Ipswich in recent years. The pace of losses has now slowed and many community pubs are run by volunteers.
