Norse Commercial Services subsidiary Suffolk Coastal Services (SCS) has been re-awarded the waste management contract for the Hutchinson Ports (UK)-owned Port of Felixstowe.
The three year agreement, the value of which remained confidential, starts on December 1 and covers a range of services including road and site cleansing, weed control, gully cleaning, general waste management, recycling and hazardous waste management.
“We are delighted to continue our excellent long-term partnership with Hutchison Ports,” said SCS commercial manager Tim Collard.
“We have been working with them for over six years now and this re-awarded contract is a clear indication of the quality of service we supply. Since the start of the initial term we have invested heavily in plant and equipment that is deployed in delivering the contract.”
Norwich-based facilities management group Norse also provides building cleaning services to the port’s offices.
“The joint venture between Norse Commercial Services and Suffolk Coastal and Waveney councils continues to grow,” said Norse managing director Peter Hawes.
“The contract with Hutchison Ports is an excellent example of the success of the partnership in winning business in the private sector, as well as the development of cost effective service delivery to the councils’ residents.”
He added: “Norse is now firmly established as a major services provider and employer Suffolk, and a strong supporter of the local economy. Our continuing growth has come from both contract wins and our local authority partnerships, now with three councils in the county.
“Across the UK our joint ventures and contract awards mean we now have a forward order book approaching £2billion, ensuring our long-term financial strength and sustainability; factors essential for continuity of customer service in tough economic times.”
