A fire at a pub in Ipswich, which left the ground floor bar area “heavily smoke-logged”, is being investigated.

The blaze broke out at the Earl Kitchener pub in Hadleigh Road in the early hours of this morning and was reported to Suffolk Fire and Rescue just before 2.30am.

Two crews from Princes Street arrived and called for help from Ipswich East.

The fire was found in the smoke-logged ground floor bar and put out.

“The cause of this fire is under investigation,” a spokesman for the fire service said.
