Former Ipswich Town defender Titus Bramble is facing a possible driving ban after failing to provide information relating to a speeding allegation.

The 33-year-old ex-Premier League star had been summonsed to appear before Ipswich magistrates on offences of breaking the speed limit and failing to provide information about who was driving a Landrover with a personalised number plate.

Bramble, of Stone Lodge Lane, Ipswich, had been accused of travelling at 60mph in a 40mph limit on the A1214 in London Road, Ipswich, at 3.16pm on April 1.

However, the former England Under-21 international did not attend court or have legal representation at the hearing.

The offence of failing to provide information on May 12 was proved in his absence, while the speeding matter was dropped.

The case was adjourned until November 6 when magistrates at Bury St Edmunds will consider disqualifying Bramble from driving.

The Landrover said to belong to Bramble was alleged to have been caught travelling too fast by a mobile speed camera.

It was the third speeding allegation against the central defender in two years.

Bramble had six points put on his previously clean driving licence in August last year after being caught speeding twice in seven minutes on Christmas Day 2012.

He drove his Mercedes sports car at 89mph on the A14 in Girton, Cambridgeshire, at 2.09pm.

Bramble was then caught travelling at 92mph on another road in Fenstanton just minutes later.

Following guilty pleas to both offences, entered on his behalf by his solicitor Barry Warburton, Bramble was ordered to pay £640 in fines and costs by Huntingdonshire Magistrates’ Court.

Magistrates also endorsed his licence with three penalty points for each offence.

Bramble began his career at Ipswich Town in 1998, where he made 48 appearances between 1998 and 2002.

He left Ipswich for Sir Bobby Robson’s Newcastle United in 2002, joining for £6 million.

He went on to make 105 appearances for the Tyneside club over five seasons, before leaving on a free transfer.

Bramble then signed for Wigan Athletic, playing 96 first team games between 2007 and 2010, before joining Sunderland from the start of the 2010-11 season.

After leaving Sunderland in the summer of 2013 following a season blighted by hip, calf and Achilles injuries Bramble became a free agent.

He trained with Ipswich and played in friendlies against Gillingham and Barnet.

Talk of a possible pay-as-you-play contract earlier this year failed to materialise.

Bramble now helps coach youngsters part-time at Ipswich’s Academy.
