Ed Sheeran fans from across East Anglia descended on a charity shop in Framlingham today as a sale of the chart star’s clothes got under way.
The event at the St Elizabeth Hospice store in Market Hill raised £1,000 in just one hour of trading this morning, while an eBay auction of his clothes is also adding to the charity funds.
People came from as far afield as Norfolk and south Essex to pick up one of the items on sale, many of which have been used in live performances and video shoots.
People had been queuing up from 8am and the first in line was Chloe Forkes, 15, of Hethersett, Norwich, who bought three of the A-team singer’s jumpers.
She said: “We got up at 6am and my dad drove me here, I wanted to be the first in the queue. I have been a massive fan since before he was famous and really want to have something he has worn.
“I am so pleased to have got three jumpers, they are so cool. I will wear all of them.”
Georgia Sprong, 15, of Woodbridge, who bought a sweatshirt, added: “I am an Ed fan and it is so cool to have something he has worn. And I think it’s great that he donated to such a good local cause.”
About 100 people went to the sale this morning, which started at 10am and bosses at the shop hope in total it will raise more than £2,000. The shop has also taken calls from fans in the USA enquiring about the products.
The unsold items will remain in the shop all week but some will be added to the eBay sale, which ends on Wednesday.
Shop manager, Rachail Pollard, said: “We have had a great turnout and hopefully it will raise a lot of money.
“Everyone was happy to pay for what they wanted as they knew it was going to a good local cause.
“It has been an exciting week for all of us and I would like to thank all the volunteers, customers and shop staff and of course Ed and his family for all their support.”
Jemma Wood, assistant shop manager, added: “It is lovely that he wants to support us.”
