Ram-raiders smashed into the wall of a filling station on the outskirts of a Suffolk town in the early hours of this morning.
It is thought thieves made off with cigarettes and cash after reversing at speed into the side of the Jet garage in Framlingham some time after midnight.
A black Mercedes estate, believed to have been stolen, was found dumped at the scene in Station Road. A suspected getaway car was later found on fire near Ipswich.
The impact caused possible structural damage to the building, which remains closed.
Manager Keith Bartholomew said the garage was closed at the time of the robbery.
Police were called just before 12.30am to reports of an alarm sounding and a car driving off at high speed.
Officers arrived to find the Mercedes, which they believe may have been stolen along with a black Audi from the driveway of a property in Burstall the previous evening.
The black Audi was discovered on fire in Copdock at around 1.15am.
Anyone who has any information in relation to either incident, or who may have seen the vehicles at any time during the evening, is asked to contact Leiston CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
