Do you know your tuba from your French horn? If not, never fear as there’s a new brass band looking for wannabe players.

Simply Brass and Mid Suffolk Brass have launched in Stowmarket to serve the mid Suffolk area.

The former is for all abilities and is described as a “non-competitive” and fun group.

Whereas Mid Suffolk Brass is for more experienced musicians.

The bands have been organised by Nina and Ian Harvey. Mr Harvey said: “We have a fantastic founding membership of 14 children in Simply Brass and 23 members of Mid Suffolk Brass. Both bands have managed to beg and borrow enough instruments for all. We are now looking to consolidate and grow.

“We need a library of music, some instruments for new members to try and, of course, more members to join in. If you can help in any way or fancy a go please, please contact us.”

Training will be given so, when players want to develop and move from Simply Brass to Mid Suffolk Brass, they can do so.

Mid Suffolk Brass will perform at Stowmarket’s Christmas Tree Lights switch-on on November 29.
