After several weeks of warm weather, the crops are ripe for the picking and farmers are hard at work acorss the region.

Harvest began slightly earlier this year and is now well underway.

And this summer farmers are pinning their hopes on a good wheat harvest.

There had been hopes of record-breaking oil seed rape yields and although the harvest had been plentiful, records are yet to be broken.

Members of our iwitness community have been out capturing the farmers at work, photographing combine harvesters powering through fields and bales of hay piled high, awaiting collection.

  • I remember the old binders cutting wheat shiefs. Rabbit chasing and having to give, most of our catch back to workers.
