IT WAS smiles all round at the Ipswich Star’s carol concert which signalled the start of the Christmas season.

Held at St Mary-le-Tower and led by Canon Charles Jenkin, the service raised funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance – providing a boost for the vital service that helps save hundreds of lives a year.

Readers at the annual event included Star editor Terry Hunt, Pip Duffy from the East Anglian Ambulance service and Amanda Long from the East of England Co-operative Society, which was supporting the concert.

Attendees enjoyed singing traditional carols, which were interspersed by special performances from the church choir. It was the third time the Star’s concert has been held at St Mary-le-Tower.

Mr Hunt said: “The service was very enjoyable and got everyone into the festive spirit.

“It was a chance to reflect on the past year and enjoy some splendid music from the church choir and the organist Dr Giles Brightwell.

“I would like to thank Canon Charles Jenkin and his team for organising this celebration.”
