More than 100 female students in Suffolk have taken part in a new project aimed at encouraging more girls to participate in sport regularly.
The scheme is running between Suffolk Sport and Suffolk One in Ipswich. The students took part in activities including trampolining and Zumba during the event. Staff at Suffolk One are now looking through student feedback in the hope of setting up regular clubs for girls.
Nicola Edwards, who organised the event, said: “The sessions went down very well and we are optimistic that this will inspire those involved to become more active.
“As a sixth form centre, we will be doing all we can to support them.”
Kathryn James, from Suffolk Sport, added: “We hope to set up maybe three or four clubs up as a result of this taster day. And if it is successful, we will be happy to do similar events at other sixth forms and colleges across the county.”
