Kerry Thorpe suffered from Cystic Fibrosis and died at the age of 23 while waiting for a lung transplant.

The Kerry Alex Thorpe Trust was set up in her memory by her family and fiancé Josh Nelli.

Since then they have been raising money through the trust for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Live Life Then Give Life, which raises awareness about organ donation.

And last week the latest fundraiser, which saw nearly 80 golfers taking part, took the trust a big step closer to their £10,000 target.

The day was organised by Mr Nelli and his father Tony with the teams of four teeing off shortly after 10am last Friday.

Mr Nelli said: “It went very well. We had 19 teams of four who entered.

“We’re still waiting on the exact final total but we think close to £3,000 was raised on the day; £1,500 was from local businesses who sponsored the teams and competitions.

“We didn’t really set ourselves a target, it was just that we knew if we got the support from local businesses and generated enough interest it would be possible to raise a good amount of money but £3,000 is more than we imagined.”

As well as going to the two charities Mr Nelli said the money would also be used to fund a new venture by the trust.

They are now offering wish days to children with Cystic Fibrosis aged between 11 and 16 who are under the care of Ipswich hospital children’s clinic.

They will be able to apply for the chance to have a day out or an experience they might otherwise not be able to enjoy because of their condition.

If you’d like to apply to the trust for one of their wish days you can visit their website www.kerryalexthorpetrust.org.uk/wishday and download an application form to send in.
